Acne and Oily Skin - Facial Cleansers
Consistent daily facial care habits are essential for those with acne prone problem skin. For most acne treatment will begin with choosing a facial cleanser. People who have acne have learned that its not their skin care habits or lack of them that caused  their acne. A proper skin care routine is important as well as product selection for successful treatment. Over cleansing and scrubbing active acne pustules and inflamed skin is not recommended. Follow a sensible routine with acne skin care products for your skin type and allow them time to work. Switching between several different products and using acne products from different companies at the same time may not produce ideal results.
Facial cleansing with soap and water is not ideal for acne treatment even for those with very oily complexions as they may be drying and cause irritation. Facial cleansers used for acne skincare and oily skin often contain antibacterial additives and other healing ingredients. Astringents and toners are good skin care products for those with acne and oily skin as they close the pores after cleansing and reduce the amount of sebum produced. Often they contain other ingredients to remove excess oils and any traces of the facial cleanser. Apply an astringent or toner before applying makeup to reduce the risk of blackheads and help the makeup last longer. After cleansing rinse your face at least 5-10 times with warm water and pat dry.
Always apply your moisturizer or treatment while your skin is
still damp and thoroughly massage them into the skin until completely
absorbed.
Exfoliants for oily skin and treatment of acne encourage the removal of dead skin cells, but those containing minute granules, such as crushed peach or avocado stones, should never be used on active pustules or inflamed skin. Wait until pustules are healed before exfoliating but remember that good exfoliating habits will help control acne outbreaks and keep your pores unclogged.
For deeper cleansing, regular facials, such as masks, mud packs or other natural acne treatment can be helpful for oily skin related problems
and blemishes. These treatments can be applied at home or at a beauty salon by a qualified beauty therapist. Herbal steam facials are a great anti acne treatment to apply at least once a week that is very beneficial to opening and deep cleansing pores, killing skin surface bacteria, drying pimples; toning and condition your skin.

Moisturizers and Foundations
Foundations and powders can be a major source of skin problems in those with oily skin and acne. When applied to some areas of the face they may clog pores and cause whiteheads (comedones) and blackheads, or even cystic acne. The dyes used in rouge have been linked to causing flares. Some may notice more pimples in your cheek area? Choose products which are described as "oil free", water-based, hypoallergenic and preferably also "non-comedogenic" and even then you may still have problems. Look at the newer foundations and cosmetics that have healing ingredients like salicylic acid for your acne prone complexion. Natural mineral powders and foundations may also be an option. Take the time to discover some of the newer cosmetics for better care of your acne prone skin. Moisturizers retard the loss of natural moisture from the skin, preventing dryness and other cell damage.
Make-up is not recommended if your acne is active; your skin needs to be able to heal and breath,
make-up is not helpful in that process. Fresh air, a little sunshine, clean skin
with good acne skin care treatments are the best thing when your skin is
disturbed.

Makeup Removers
To keep acne under control and skin healthy it's important to remove your makeup at the end of each day, not only to remove dirt and grime from the atmosphere, but to remove loose skin cells and oil. It's more effective to remove makeup with a cleansing cream or lotion before washing the face. Choose an oil-free lotion or gel makeup remover which is designed for sensitive or oily skins and is non-comedogenic. Even a good mild natural skin cleanser would be effective as a makeup remover.
