Why choose natural skin care?

The answer is all around us and is now at the forefront of how we live and what is important to us, our health and quality of life. Why should we eat healthy foods i.e. fruits, vegetables, whole grain breads? Why stop smoking? Why exercise? Why drink more water? Why take vitamins? I think you know the answer. We are not trying to convince you to purchase natural skin care products. If you need to be convinced perhaps you are not ready to make the change. We are a company that make natural skin care products for those that are ready for healthier products and understand the difference. We provide you with information related to what we believe to be important regarding the benefits of our natural skin care products.

There are so many natural skin care companies, why Herbal Luxuries?

That's an intelligent question one that probably many of our site visitors decide each day. The decision to try one skin care line over another is a personal one, you are in control. We try to provide as much information as possible about Herbal Luxuries and our products and we hope this information will help you in your decision. Basically there will always be lots of companies making and selling skin care products. The companies offering products on-line are no different (most of them) from the ones sold in your local spas, health food, drug or department stores. You have to look beyond the noise of sales pitch and get into the facts and details provided about the products, company, etc., then make your decision.

We would love to have you as a customer, however, if you don't try our products today, perhaps you will in the future. We won't use hysterical scare tactics (everything is bad), partial ingredients listing and other questionable behavior to lure customers into purchasing our products. There is enough of that on-line already.

We envision you looking at our products based on whatever your need may be and virtually (in cyber sense) picking up the bottle and reading the label along with whatever information you can acquire about the products (which we provide) including how to use them, ingredients, comments from our customers and other variables that you normally use when making decisions.

Some of your skin care products look different from ...

That is correct they are different with an intentional purpose. Female consumers in the US have been conditioned by cosmetic and advertising companies that produce chemical and synthetic products that all skin care creams and lotions are white or has one consistency or another. These cosmetic companies are more interested in how their products look, feel and are packaged than what health benefits they provide for your skin, hair and body. If a non-exposed (to natural skin care) female consumer open a bottle or jar and the contents are not white they are initially going to be a little apprehensive, maybe even upset, the next action will probably be to smell it and she may be reluctant to use it. During the course of these actions she has probably not once looked at the ingredients or given much thought to their benefits. The color of our products is indicative of the purity of the ingredients, the amount in the product and they are not diluted. It's impossible to have certain ingredients in a product in any meaningful concentration and they not alter the color. Perhaps that white cream you are using with CO-Enzyme Q10 in it is not delivering what you think.

The same goes for white eggs vs brown eggs. White eggs are not natural, visit a chicken and see for yourself. Wheat and most whole grain natural breads are not white and the list is endless. If you are fortunate enough to have an organic/natural foods restaurant in your area I highly recommend giving it a try. The first time I ate organic food I could not believe the difference, the taste is incredible. There is a difference that you will eventually appreciate. Most users of natural skin care begin to appreciate the difference if they have used them for a while and then go back to the department/drug store brands.

Some of our finished products are naturally white but that is not because we alter them. Whatever the color of a finished product it will not be altered in anyway. No perfumes or dyes are added. We use pure unadulterated plant essences, essential oils, herbs (most organic), distillates, extracts and pharmaceutical grade USP ingredients. We are not concerned about the color of our products only the quality of the ingredients in them and what benefits they have for our customers. Our products range in colors from white to yellow to brown and various shades in between. We even have a greenish blue one, made so from the pure therapeutic German Blue Chamomile essential oil it contains. If the color of skin care products are important (white only) you may not be happy with some of our products and you will miss an opportunity to experience their benefits.

What is "Customer Sign-In" and why do I need to do this?

In order to provide our customers with a high level of service regarding their orders and to take advantage of other offers on our site such as the loyalty rewards program will require shoppers to set-up an account. This will contain your basic information such as bill to and ship to address, your preferred method of payment (credit-card or Pay-Pal) etc. You do not enter any credit card information into your account set-up. A customer is not required to have an account to use our site but if you shop with us often we do encourage you to set-up one. If you are an existing customer this pulls your address into the order form. A new customer will be directed to setting up an account or they can choose express checkout. Your account is required also so that you may check the status of your orders or change your address, etc. You only have to do this one time. This also makes it convenient to shop with us in the future. We do not store credit card information. I was in your on-line store but I somehow had an error?

Our site uses cutting edge software and the latest technologies, in order for the site to function properly you need to upgrade your browser and we recommend in this order; Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer 8. If you are using an older browser there are some areas of our site that may not function properly or present an error. Also clearing out your browsers cache including cookies and temporary files will also improve performance not only on our site but any website you visit.

There may be a reason for your error other than the actual functioning of our store. If you are using a dial-up connection errors will be more prevalent because of the many features on our site. The speed of a dial-up connection, in most cases 56K, is slow and makes it difficult to load our site pages or process a request once you select a menu item, this results in what is known as time-outs and the system will deliver an error message because it didn't get the information.

Some visitors may have a problem following the flow of the pages and menus. Reading and paying attention to what you click and type will also help reduce errors. If you do have a problem we would really appreciate your bringing it to our attention. Please include your browser type and method of connecting to the internet in the information provided and an adequate description of your problem. Also copy and paste the URL from the browser window of the page you were on when the problem occurred if possible.

Our store software use cookies to process orders and to track your shopping cart additions and deletions. Please be sure you have session cookies enabled in your browser and have http://www.herballuxuries.com added as an accepted site. If cookies are disabled you can receive errors while shopping on our site or the cart will not add or remove items properly. Check that your browser has java enabled. Having java and session cookies enabled will resolve most of the errors you could possibly receive in our store.

If your problem persist delete and remove all cookies and internet files from your browser then close the browser and re-open and navigate back to our site. Also be sure to upgrade your browser as suggested above. Contact us if you still have issues.

Can I make credit card payments?

Yes, all credit card transactions are processed by Authorize.net, one of the largest gateway processors for credit card transactions in the nation. They not only handle secure website credit card transactions, but retail, banking and other traditional businesses. All transactions are processed using the latest security. You will receive an email once your transaction has been approved. We also make PayPal available for those who prefer to use PayPal or prefer using checks or cash. It is preferred that you set-up your PayPal account before placing an order on our site. All PayPal orders are deleted from our system if we do not receive payment or an explanation of why payment is delayed within 24 hours.

How Do I know Your Site Is Secure?

We have done everything we possibly can to assure our customers’ information and transactions are private and secure. When ever you are on one of our pages that ask for personal information (your account, checkout, payment processing) always look at the bottom or top of your browser window for the secure indicators. Pages URL's in the browsers address bar will begin with https and not http and a lock icon is usually indicated on the browsers status or address bar. Our information is encrypted using 256-bit encryption in addition to firewalls, data scrambling and other security measures. We display our sites authentication and SSL seal issued by TrustWave.

How will I be notified when my order has shipped?

We send an email telling you your order status have been changed and advising you to log into your account to check the status. USPS shipments are notified via email with tracking number and other details

When will I receive my order?

All orders placed on our site are usually shipped according to our current shipping shedule which is subject to change. If an item is on backorder or out of stock this information is displayed on our store pages or you will be notified via email that there is a delay and all the details and options for processing your order in a timely manner. Our objective is to process your order as quickly as possible.

Our shipping schedule applies for orders placed on-line in our store by 5PM daily CST, orders placed after 5PM CST will follow the next days schedule. Shipping dates may vary but will generally follow the schedule. You will be notified via email or phone if there are any extended delays in processing your order.

How will my order be shipped?

All orders are shipped via the US Postal Service via Priority Mail, Express Mail, International Priority Mail. All available shipping options and rates are presented during the check-out process for your location.

For an estimate of shipping charges to any destination simply add the items you want to purchase to the cart and click on estimate shipping. Please do not ask us for regular shipping charges because it will vary by weight and destination; use the estimator on the cart.

What about returns and refunds?

We can accept returns only on unopened resalable items within 10 days of their receipt; we must be notified immediately upon receipt of any problems with your order/items. To be considered for return the seal or wrapping on the product must be in place, it can not be opened and it must be in good condition. All returns require prior approval and must have an RMA number. Upon receipt of an approved return we will promptly process your refund. Please keep in mind shipping and handling fees are not refundable. Go to our order policies page for more details. If you have not used our skin care products before we encourage you to order the sample sizes before purchasing a larger size product. Samples are not returnable, exchangeable or refundable. As a small company we can not absorb the cost of those who whish to abuse this policy. Unauthorized returns are discarded and will not be shipped again or replaced. Please call or email us if you have a return request that meet our guidelines.

What preservatives do you use?

Our products contain all natural ingredients. We use natural preservatives such as Grapefruit seed extract (Citricidal), Potassium Sorbate, Vitamin E in the form of d-alpha tocopherol and mixed tocopherol, Manuka and Tea Tree essential oils. We have recently done some additional testing and research and will begin using some of the standard food grade preservatives at minimal amounts. This is to ensure maximum safety from all possible contaminants once you begin using our products. Most contaminants are introduced into personal care products by the purchaser. Since we have no control over what happens to our products or the conditions in which they are stored and used once they leave our facility we will begin this process as a precaution and protection for our customers. The amount of these traditional preservatives will be .5 to 1.0% of all the ingredients in our products, the very minimal allowed. These preservatives are already being used in food, drug and most personal care products. We will continue to add our natural preservatives to all products which helps us lower the amount of the traditional preservatives we will use. We do not use parabens.

What is the shelf life of your products?

Although the shelf life varies by product we have chosen to list a shelf life of 6- 12 months on most of our products. In our own experience they do remain fresh a lot longer. Products can be refrigerated or kept in a cool dark place (such as under your sink) to extend shelf life and freshness. We definitely recommend not keeping our products in the sun and do not leave them open when not in use. Washing your hands before dipping your fingers into a jar will also help stop the introduction of bacteria into the products.

How Do I Get Free Samples Of Your Products?

We offer samples for sale on our website and do offer promotions from time to time where we send free samples.

I Have Allergies, Which Ingredients Should I Avoid?

If you have allergies, such as to grasses, plants, ragweed, chrysanthemums, etc. you probably want to avoid chamomile but there may be others. If you are very allergic or sensitive please check with your Allergist or Dermatologist or other healthcare professional regarding a potential reaction to ingredients listed in any of our products prior to placing your order. This is one of the main reasons we list all our ingredients. Many others will only tell you what is supposedly their active ingredients. What are they hiding?

Why Do Natural Products Cost More?

That is actually not true, if you check your department store brands and specialty or spa brand personal care products, our natural products not only cost less but you are also getting a larger size with quality ingredients that are healthier for your skin. Our products are potent concentrated formulations that require minimal amounts applied to achieve results making them also an excellent value. We use some of the precious essential oils in our products like Rose, Helicrysum, Sandalwood, and Neroli. They are called precious because they are exquisitely fragrant, therapeutic and they are expensive to make and to buy. In addition, our anti-aging and acne products, are classified as cosmeceuticals meaning they contain both cosmetic and pharmaceutical grade ingredients increasing their effectiveness at delivering results for our customers. We don’t cut corners on our products, we use no fillers to fill up the bottle. In summary, quality natural products that are not mass produced cost more to make.

Why can't I buy your products locally?

At this time we only offer our products on-line. This is a business decision we made because of our concerns regarding the quality of our products and Herbal Luxuries being in control of the process in which they are made, the ingredients in them, how they are presented, stored and distributed. Perhaps some day they will be available at your local health food store, natural skin care spa or boutique but never a drug store or department store.
